Smooth Gel - Rice Flour - Thickener
Smooth Gel Pregelatinised Rice Flour is an excellent thickener for non-dairy yoghurts, soups, sauces, gravies and much more.
Replaces fats to get a creamy smooth texture. Dissolves in hot or cold liquids.
This product being pregelatinised can be added to hot or cold foods and will still dissolve and form a thickening gel. This means you can add more Smooth Gel to your sauces, gravies or coconut yoghurt after they have been made.
Non Dairy Coconut Yoghurt
- Use 10 to 20 grams in a litre batch of coconut yoghurt in place of other thickeners like pectin.
- More can be added after fermentation, just whisk in vigorously.

very effectiveBy: JosieM on 6 August 2022I have previously used Tapioca Flour as a thickener for Coconut Yoghurt but it left a gritty texture on the tongue. This is so much better - no grit and quick dissolving so you can add it at any time during the yoghurt making process. I am still striving to get that perfect creamy coconut texture but this sure helps! Thanks to Valerie for the fantastic how-to videos.
